Lake Malawi Conservancy
The proposed Lake Malawi Conservancy is conceived as an extraordinary transboundary “mega conservancy” extending around the wider Lake Malawi landscape and involving communities and stakeholders across Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania.
Its purpose is to respond proactively to growing population and development pressures by creating a coordinated framework for biodiversity protection, sustainable land and water use, community enterprise and nature-based economic development.
With Lake Malawi at its heart, the conservancy has the potential to connect terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems while creating a globally distinctive destination based upon conservation, community livelihoods, culture, adventure and sustainable tourism.
Working hand in hand with local beneficiary partners, Rewilding Africa CIC intends making this much needed National Park Conservancy a reality, before population pressure around the lake destroys its last remaining biodivsesity forever.
