The proposed Lokobe Conservancy would focus on creating a community-inclusive conservation landscape around Lokobe National Park on the island of Nosy Be. The initiative could combine protection of Madagascar’s unique forests and endemic species with sustainable livelihoods, community enterprise, environmental education and carefully managed ecotourism.
By connecting the national park’s exceptional biodiversity with the surrounding island economy, the Conservancy could demonstrate how conservation and tourism can generate tangible benefits for local communities while protecting one of Madagascar’s most distinctive natural assets.
