Ifrane Conservancy
The Ifrane Conservancy would serve as Morocco’s flagship pilot for the National Park Conservancy model, creating a nature-positive “thrive buffer” around Ifrane National Park that connects protected landscapes with surrounding communities, sustainable land uses, conservation corridors, tourism and private-sector investment.
Advocated by Rewilding Africa CIC and its Global National Parks Campaign, the two-phased programme would first establish a compelling international destination brand and investment proposition, before progressing into comprehensive natural-resource assessment, community planning, land-use zoning, governance, nature-based enterprise development, landscape restoration and long-term conservancy management.
Developed collaboratively with Morocco’s National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF), NGOs, community leaders, local authorities and responsible private-sector partners, the Ifrane Conservancy would demonstrate how a national park can become the ecological and economic heart of a wider landscape—creating tangible benefits for communities while strengthening biodiversity protection and establishing a replicable Moroccan model for the future of national park conservation.
