Elly Omondi
Description
My name is Elly Omondi, born and raised in Homabay county in the Kisuri village, Kenya. After completing my high school education, I pursued my passion for wildlife management and conservation course by joining the KWS training institute , Naivasha. I then enrolled with the San Diego Wildlife Alliance Academy (USA ), and Edinburgh University to gain further various skills and knowledge necessary to work in the field of wildlife conservation.
After graduating from the KWS training institute, I began my career at Mt. Kenya Wildlife Conservancy as a Wildlife Keeper.
I then moved to the Soysambu wildlife conservancy Nakuru , Kenya where I was a Game Ranger for a year, patrolling and monitoring the wildlife and especially the Lion population, to ensure safety of these animals and their habitats.
I subsequently decided to broaden my horizons and accepted a position in Qatar as an Animal care specialist, where I worked for 1.5 years before moving to my current role at the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Somaliland as a Cheetah Care Specialist.
I continue to utilize my skills and knowledge to help protect and conserve cheetah populations in Africa and our main aim is to fight the illegal pet trade in cheetahs.
